Split decision. I haven't seen the Old Navy one, but I love and probably would prefer my Factory cocoon coat over it anyway. I definitely prefer the Factory cocoon over the retail. The fit was just better for me in the Factory version. It cracks me up that ON blatantly knocked this coat off. What makes it really funny is that Mickey Drexler created ON. I always wonder if he feels irritated, flattered or if they're not really in his radar. Perhaps it depends on the day. Back to the coats. We all have different needs and if the ON version is good for your wallet & lifestyle, I'm always in support of that. You might only need a heavy coat for a few weeks out of the year, so why spend a lot of coin on it. I have a wool peacoat from ON that suits me just fine over J Crew's. So whatever works for you.
I'm totally not buying another coat (famous last words), but if I were, I'd try the Old Navy cropped pea coat. The color looks great. It's mostly poly, no wool. So I'm thinking it's a ponte type jacket. Cute.
