Old Navy - Liberty-like prints

As discussed on The Mothership and on Beach Chic Style, Old Navy's lightweight patterned shirts bear a striking resemblance to a couple of Liberty print offerings from J Crew.

Size M - The fabric is lightweight, good for layering but it doesn't feel paper thin.

It's a great pattern with lots of colors to pull out and highlight. This is a good one for pencil skirt lovers. Would also look good w/the cafe capris in wool, brilliant blue. I like the longer shirttail hem, which is good for tying at the waist.

The Feeling
A big thumbs up. I am not a Liberty expert so I didn't have any particular feelings of comparison between that and the ON top. I liked the comfort and feel of the ON fabric. I like florals but don't really like them on me. I did in this case and esp at this price point.

J Crew Liberty shirt in Leo Scarlet (review) vs. ON's lightweight patterned shirt in sea blue floral. The Liberty print has a darker base than the Old Navy top. The ON top is looking a little Wal-Mart-ish in this pic, but trust me...it's much cuter irl.

Size M - I have straight hips even though they don't photograph as such. Anyway, I didn't have an issue w/the bottom of the shirt being too wide as described on The Mothership. The size M is a little big in some places, but it fits properly in the most important places like my chest & stomach. I didn't even bother trying a S, which would likely gape at the chest.

It's cute with the button-front stretch cardi in off-white. I prefer XS in those cardis.

Cute with yellow or navy shorts for summer. A cooler summer day, of course, w/those long sleeves.

These blouses were on promo in-store for $15 on Sat, 2/2. Yes, that price is quite easy to sway a shopper to checkout. However, before I paid attention to the original retail or learned they were on promo, I was thinking that $29.94 + 25% off would be a good deal. I figured I'd bring the cost/wear down quickly. And at $15 the cost/wear will come down very fast. I think Old Navy changes their in-store promo prices on Wed or Thur, so you might still have time catch it. Of course it could still be on promo thru next weekend.

20% off online with GAMEDAY thru 2/4. Of course another 30% off will probably roll around soon.

I hope your week gets off to a great start!

    1. Kate - These can be worn right now because they layer easily. It'll be a great top to transition to spring.

  2. I was waffling on ordering these. I need a tall, and of course they aren't $15 online, and do I really need them? But they look so good on you!

    1. JCrewJD - Of course they aren't $15 online. The Gap family always has lots of price differences between in-store & online. It's really bad when you need petite or tall because you won't get a shot at some of the good in-store prices. Of course these may go to promo and then have an addtl % off. I've been surprised at some of the cute things that languished online. You just never know.

  4. I loooove the Margaret Anne dupe, I always admired that shirt but never wanted to put the money towards it because as you I am not a big Liberty and floral person. Do you thonk I should go with a XS? I am always at a loss in terms of what size to order at ON.

    1. Ema - I think XS for you. H&M has some inexpensive florals right now but only poly type fabrics. The ON tops are 100% cotton.

  5. Ema - I wear a 2-4 in JC perfect shirts an XS in JC tees. I bought the ON version in XS and there is still room. As other reviewers have mentioned, they are slightly roomy in the hips.

Gigi - I totally know what you mean by Walmartish! That was the first thing I told myself when I tried them on. When I took them home styled them, I found that they were really cute.

  10. Yay -t hey come in tall in all o the colors!

I noticed ON's Girls offering are looking a lot more J.Crew-ish of late. Which I'm all for. I'd much rather pay an appropriate price for that level of quality.
