Size 6 - 100 silk, 100% poly lining - This Jules seems at least an inch longer than past Jules dresses. Check it out on 1 More Shopping Blog, on Colorful Corporate, on ShOperaRach, on The Petite Fitting Room and on The Stylized Life.
If I were to wear it with flats, which I probably wouldn't.
On the toes, as if I were in heels. I never wear anything too high these days.
A close-up of the print.
The poly lining. I like that it's yellow, like the body of the dress.
These covered buttons always befuddle my fingers. There's a keyhole at the back, approx 4".
The Feeling
The print is beautiful. I wasn't a fan of the gold/yellow color, though. It doesn't compliment the beige/nude color either, imo. The dress had static cling. I've read online to drag a wire hanger and that should reduce the static, but haven't tried it myself. It's nice that the dress seems to have a bit more material, but I still don't think they've perfected this Jules silhouette they're pushing.

Ok...very odd that your size 6 went almost to the knee and neither my 6 or 8 did.

I still love it though. And it was really static-y. I wonder what print the Spring/Summer will bring for the Jules.
Ok...so I was able to get the Jules in the Botanical Print on sales with the 40% off and the length is just slightly below my knee...enough that I'll probably get it hemmed. Crazy huh?
DeleteYou said it exactly...the yellow and nude color, not quite working. I might consider this if I could get it heavily discounted, but I know that is not an option with my Las Vegas store gone. :(
ReplyDeleteI saw it IRL, and I was a tad disappointed that the colors seemed off together. I also saw the shorts, but I wasn't a fan of the material used for the style.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...yeah, I still love it, but there's something off...too much yellow at the shoulders? Definitely way static-y! I love that you found one a little longer...so much hope...
ReplyDeleteI've seen this on TV people and it looks nice on them, not sure where it would work IRL though. Maybe it is just a sitting on a stool hosting dress? The print is beautiful
ReplyDeleteI want a shift dress with pockets so badly and have yet to find one, at J. Crew or anywhere else, that gets near lower thigh. I keep looking. Hope springs eternal!
ReplyDeleteI like this print over all, I think different colors would have been nicer. The shape looks good on you, Gigi.
I saw this dress at the store (still plenty at Roosevelt field mall, ny) and did not care for the material or the colors. The material felt cheap and flimsy while the colors didn't flatter my skin tone. Though on you, Gigi, I think it looks rather great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link love, gigi! I think this dress looks really nice on you.
ReplyDeleteFunny how the colors are brightened and sharpened in the online pics. Meh. I do think the girl wearing this dress in your blog banner photo looks like J. Lo. :-) I think you can do better with a silk print Hale Bob dress on sale...
ReplyDeleteThis dress seemed so promising in the pictures released from jcrew, but it seems like everyone has a problem with it. I'm going to attempt to find it in my store tomorrow, and hope that it just *might* flatter me (though I have never been able to pull off yellow..)
ReplyDeleteI've been lusting after this dress ever since I saw it in the catalogue, but I live in Canada and it's not available in-store. Could you tell me if the yellow is really as bright as it is in most of your photos, or darker, like in the close-up of the back keyhole?
ReplyDeleteAnon - It is darker like the back keyhole shot. The lighting is making the yellow glow. It's not neon-y or that bright in-person. HTH
