J Crew - Collection café capri in green tie silk

Crew's Collection café capri in green tie silk (25198, $228) run 00 - ?. regular sizes only; no petite or tall. They're now $129.99 in-store and $159.99 online. The color is called turquoise green.

Size 6 - The size 6 was a little tough to zip, but I think that's the right size. I think it's a lower rise pant. If I got these, I would have to be a couple lbs lighter to wear them without fear of stressing the thigh seams when seated (see The Feeling pic). If I bump into them on crazy sale, I might consider a pair. They would look cute w/a navy blazer.

Similar shot, sweater just pulled up a little higher on my right side. The turquoise hem was a lot less noticeable in-person. In fact, I couldn't really see it in the fitting room at all due to the dramatic lighting. It didn't bother me irl as much as it did online. It blends in well with the green.

The Feeling
I didn't like these as much as the purple tie silk capris. That's probably because I'm not really a green person. Of course I recycle. I mean the color (slaps knee). I think these would make a smashing alternative to wear to a holiday party, instead of evergreen or true red in one's ensemble. I can also see them worn in the spring. They're a dressier fabric. Even if you casualize them, they're going to shine.

Shoes (7): Kate Spade Juliana Too (SP12) See the rainy day ballet flat for 2013, Kate Spade Jennie

  1. Gigi! Yoo funny! These are on order for me as I waited for them to go to 50% off. I can't wait to see if I have the same reaction as you! They are awfully pretty!

  2. All of the silk pants and skirts in this shiny fabric that I've pruchased from JC have ended up in the donate pile because the seams have let go and frayed at certain points. The butt seam being the biggest culprit in both skirts and pants. This is true even in a skirt that was so big I could turn it around without unzipping it. This just isn't great fabric for anything but standing up.

Having said that, the green looks great on you although I prefer the purple as you did.

    1. Desert Flower - I don't think I'd wear these or the purple tie silk as day pants. The brown silky dot ones wore well as day pants, though. Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

    1. Coco in Pink - The shoes are plastic rain flats from Kate Spade called the Juliana Too. I bought then in Spring of 2012.

  5. Gigi. Are they the same weight as the brown polkadot sillky dot capris from the August rollout or are they thicker? I am considering these and would live a size/ fabric weight comparison if you ( or anyone else) have both. Thanks for all you do to help me spend more money:)

    1. Shopping Celle - lol Yes, the green tie silk capris are about the same weight as the brown silky dot capris. The cut feels more structured than the brown silky dot, though. The purple tie silk have a slightly stiffer feel to the fabric. Silk shatung comes to mind for the purple tie silk, but I'm not sure that's the right description.

  6. Happy New Year, Gigi. Random: I bought these ruffle wedge suede pumps from DSW after seeing them on your "look-book" task bar thingy at the bottom of your page. http://www.dsw.com/shoe/mix+no.+6+olivia+wedge+pump?prodId=208054 After 2 years (I think...), I wore these puppies and they are so cute. A tad short in the toe, but hey, beauty hurts, right? Love ya! Hope all is well with you, Mini G and G-Money. xxox

    1. Lawgirl - Cute shoes! I remember shoes. You must get a shoe stretcher spray like this one. I love the Kiwi brand. I noticed they are out of stock of lots of things right now in various places. I think due to inventory. I usually find these things at Target in the shoe dept. If you have Amazon Prime w/free shipping, you might try this one. The one I have is a liquid spray like this, non-aerosol.

I spray a little on the inside of the shoe, put my shoes on and go. You will be amazed at what a difference it makes. Not only are you stretching the shoe, but you're getting a more custom fit. Lemme know if you try.

  9. Hey Gigi - they arrived and I am not in love. I am sure I did not order them final sale (the bag says they are, the order and the order form online says they are not as I am sure I would NEVER have ordered them FS!) back they will go. I didn;t care for the green at all and like you, really preferred my purple ones! Boy, I am just not doing well with JC these days! WIll be glad to see other stores soon!
