I love the invitation clutch silhouette. I didn't really care for the colorblock look on this, but I thought my love for the invitation would sway me to buy it. Until I tried it.
The glitter is very rough and very prickly. It's very uncomfortable to feel on the body. I thought maybe a mild discomfort wouldn't matter. If I am using this, it's probably at nite and my arms will be covered with sleeves of some sort. However, the glitter tried to snag the kitty sweater I tried on and anything else nearby.
The Feeling
I absolutely did not like the feel of the glitter & the fact that it likes to snag clothing. A fancy Raiders fan would go nuts for this, but I didn't like the colorblock. As stated, I like the invitation silhouette. I like the silver shoulder strap. They could've chosen black.
I have to say I've picked this clutch up a number of times and can't allow myself to buy it. Too uncomfortable for me.

Hi Gigi, thank you so much that you reviewed the clutch for me!
ReplyDeleteIt answered my questions:).
Hi Ina, I'm so glad you saw the review. :)
DeleteTotally an item I coveted in the catalogue, and then went "Meh" when checking it out in real life. Thanks for the review, Gigi!
ReplyDeleteThanks for chiming in, Susan :)
DeleteThose types of gitter-covered bags have been everywhere this season. I agree with their snag potential, I'd be worried that it was pilling up my sweaters or dresses if I let it rub against the fabric too long. It just seems "cheap" the way they use glued-on glitter instead of perhaps sewn-on beads or sequins to get the same amount of shimmer.
ReplyDeletePaper Crane - This is definitely a cheaper way to produce the glitter look. It's something any of us can do w/Modge Podge. JC had a glitter clutch last year and/or the year before that didn't have the same prickly feeling. The glitter tends to leave a trail on that one, though. Maybe the goal was to get the glitter to stay better and the way they did it is so dense it's sharp & prickly.
DeleteI gotta ask, how do you load the Invitation clutch so it doesn't bulge at the bottom? Mine look great empty, but then...
ReplyDeleteWFF - Change the operative word. No 'loading.' ;) I don't put a wallet in mine. I can fit the receipt pouch in there with credit card & id, my phone and maybe my camera. If the camera is in there, I might have to put it in without the pouch. The Factory Vero clutch is much more load friendly because it has a narrow, flat bottom.
DeleteGlad you reviewed this piece! I've been curious about it too - but not completely taken. Maybe if it goes down more in price.
ReplyDeleteTasia
Tasia, I hope I remember my review and *don't* buy it at a lower price lol.
DeleteYeah, this was a no for me too. Glitter was falling off as I handled it and it would certainly snag anything but jeans. Not something I want to happen when I'm wearing a favorite cocktail dress!
ReplyDeleteI like the silver with black colorblocking--but envision that I would like it in a nice smooth buttery leather!
