Size M - vintage champagne - Sizing up was the right instinctive choice for this top. It does create a boxier fit, but the length worked out well.

The Feeling
Look at that thumb. Way up high. Keep in mind I'm a stripe nut. I tried it on just to share pics since I already own the polka-dot stripe sequin, but ended up loving this one. It felt comfortable and looked good. I would wear this in the day or nite. Something about the fit and stripe pattern makes it casual enough to do that.
Size S - I didn't really care for this color on the hanger or on. Just wanted to be sure to share a pic of it. I guess it could look good with the cafe capri in black. I'm not seeing bright dahlia with these, but maybe a darker color purple on the bottom could work. A tonal purple look would be too much for me personally w/these sequins, but something to consider if you're into this top & color.
I found the S to be a bit short. The smaller your chest size, the great your chance of getting close to an average length on this top. I do think it runs a little short, though. Remember, I'm 5'2". Given the short sleeves, I would never put a long-sleeve top under this. So I pulled my cami down to get an idea of what it would look like with a t-shirt peeking out the bottom of it. It didn't work with the cami and definitely didn't work in white. Maybe if it were a purple cami...? I'm not really sold on the idea.
In this close-up of the sequins. They're the flippy type.
Size S vs size M - The size S looks better in the photo than it did on. The size M doesn't look so great, but I wasn't into this color at all. Plus I was at the very end of trying things on & over it. Trust me that the M is a better fit. The zigzag sequin top was a tighter fit than this one. And I found it to be less itchy as well.
The Feeling
I still like the comfort of the top (not itchy) and the stripes. I didn't really like the color, but I can see it working for the right person. Maybe with a navy blazer, jeans and a grey scarf. Something to tone it down. The color is definitely not for me and I wouldn't buy it on super sale. I don't think it's a top that works for daytime sequins. It was quite disco ball-y.
Also on promo for $110 is the polka-dot sequin tee (review here). After adding MUSTHAVE, both the polka-dot top and this sequins tripe tee are $77.
The addtl 30% off sale items ends tonite, Sun, 11/19.

ReplyDeletePamela - that's a win & a win!
DeleteRynetta - Thanks for visiting. I added the sale price info in another area of the post just so it's clear. We wouldn't want JCAs to miss out on a good deal ;)
ReplyDeleteI am over-sequinned at this point (is there such a thing?) but this is one of the better ones, I really like it. Thanks for review, I never even noticed it before.
ReplyDeleteajc - I hear you on reaching sequin capacity. It's been going strong for a few years now.
DeleteI haven't seen it IRL but I love this one on the model and on you. I am still debating the polka-dots one (to keep or not to keep) so I don't think I am going to order more sequins at this point but it's a good one. Is it as heavy in sequins as the polka dots?
ReplyDeletegreat reviews! i have the zig zag and the dots one. i may have a sequin issue. :)
ReplyDeletehope you had a great weekend gigi!! xox
With your thumb way up I am returning the champagne polka dot sequins for the champagne stripe sequins, still keeping the black polka dot and zig zag. I also wanted to thank you for reviewing the factory draped sequin tee in white ash because I've been after a white-ish sequin tee for some months. Clearly I have an issue with sequins.
ReplyDeleteI think both of these look good on you! Maybe you'd like the purple better over a chambray shirt?
Thank you so much for this review Gigi! I am a stripe nut too and I am so in love with this top. So bummed I missed the 30% promo, but maybe it will have another price drop:)
