Size S - chest = 39.5"
Size M - chest = 41.5"
Size S - As others have mentioned, this one is a surprise. I tried it on just to share pics, but was pleased with the weight. It's substantial, but not too heavy. It felt slimming. Check it out 1 More Shopping Blog, on Audreybella, on Dina G (cerise), on Ema in apricot and in cerise and on ShOperaRach.
A close up for ya. It briefly flashed across my mind to try a XS, but I wasn't feeling confident. I thought I looked pretty good in this and didn't want to ruin it if I looked bad in the XS. *lol*
Size XS - So I went back to try the XS and it definitely fit better. If you take two sizes, take the smaller of your J Crew size. I see this with black capris & ballet flats, a la Hepburn. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it at full price + 20% off. I think I'll be perturbed if it becomes very snagalicious. I recently mentioned that I don't usually like stripes that are broken up with big bands, but it's really cute on this top. Maybe the pockets swayed me.
The stripes we're seeing are usually on a white backdrop. I really liked that the main color is light tan/off white.
Size S - The top also comes in cerise and it's very, very bright in the popover. I have and love the cerise Jackie, but could absolutely not stand the strength of the color in this top. But that's just me. I also get freaked out when I see the orange packet of 'cheese' flavoring you mix with Kraft mac & cheese. Yeah, that electric color is this popover.
We always have love for pockets. Interestingly, the fabric on this feels like the fabric on the stripe turtleneck dress (irl pics). The dress has spandex in it, but the popover does not.
Do you own...have you tried...? Would you buy something you thought might be prone to snagging or showing wear quickly?

Thanks for the link love, gigi! I loved this sweater! I also prefer the white one better.
ReplyDeleteLove this sweater but it's too pricey. The XS looks like it fits you better, IMO. Could totally see it with the black cropped pants & flats. I was leaning towards the cerise one only because it was on sale and 30% off but I have never tried it on. Must try on next time before the ivory/peach/whatever color
ReplyDeletegoes to final sale!
I love this sweater! I too found it slimming and a nice weight. The little pockets swayed me as well. :) I'm a fan of the bright orange, and snagged it on sale. Speaking of snags, I see where you're coming from, but don't think it will snag much more than any other sweater to be honest. It just might be more noticeable if you do, b/c of the smooth knit. I definitely have the neutral colorway on my sale wishlist! I sized down as well to my smaller size (XS looks great on you!). p.s. If you'd like another IRL pic, I reviewed it here (scroll down): http://shopwithm.blogspot.com/2012/01/jcrew-new-arrival-reviews-stripe.html
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in the B&M, this sweater was the item that I found most interesting, however I did not have time to try it on, so thanks for the review. I also like the white/navy. It's great to know it might be a flattering item, but a little worrisome that it may easily snag.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this review!! I meant to try this sweater the last time that I was in the retail store. It looks wonderful on you!!!
ReplyDeleteGot this in the cerise when it was final sale. I'm usually an XS, but the XXS is perfect. I like this sweater but found the material kindof rough and the length too short. In person, I didn't think the cerise was too Kraft-y, and it looks nice with jeans, but I do wish it was softer against the skin and about two inches longer.
