$300 meltdown

On Monday morning I blogged about how I *do* exist. Why? Because late Sunday nite, I was working in my blog. Launched a post. Went back to my blog url and got this message:

Not found? WTF? I tried to figure things out until 2 am and finally went to bed. I tackled it again, in the morning. I didn't get anywhere and tried to think of what I would tell someone in my position. I would have to give the corny, but true...a watched pot never boils. I needed to walk away from the situation while waiting for a response from Google. What to do...what to do. I absolutely don't need another article of clothing, but needed a distraction. Old Navy has THANKYOU for 30% off, but given that 3 years of my online life were hanging in the Internet balance, I knew this situation called for something more extreme. Then I remembered a Kate Spade sample email I received and set off to see what was available.

When this lil faux fur number came out, I put it on my mental wishlist. It was available on the last sample sale, but at a higher sale price. When I saw the new, lower price I knew I had to get it. The only thing stopping me was that I have never purchased from Kate Spade before. Did I really want a final sale purchase to be my christening as a KS shopper? Why the heck not.

Victoria faux fur pullover - Originally $845 and on sale for $249. I ordered S. The first stock photo is Kate Spade's. The second, hot mess photo is from Zappos. Way to make it look hideous, Zappos. ETA: See it on Atlantic-Pacific.



I also considered these two, but didn't buy.

The pullover was about $285 with tax. Our winters here are mild, but we haven't even had a proper one. I *so* didn't need this top. I don't regret it, though. Later I spent about $15 - $20 in cure -- lol funny typo -- I meant cute accessories at Forever 21. Will put those up on Wed, blog gods willing. And there, folks, is my $300 meltdown. I'm telling you, that top better work out. Don't make a final sale fool outta me (shakes fist).

  1. I encountered that message on occasion and hitting 'refresh' usually solved the problem. I hope it's nothing serious.

    Also hope you enjoy the faux fur popover.

  4. I got a couple of error messages around that time and chalked it up to temporary outage of some sort. Wish I'd known about the KS sale then because that faux fur topper is now sold out in my size and the next few sizes up. The hot mess photo is making me feel better about that. ;) But I hope that top works for you, I really do! And funny, this would have been my KS christening too.

  5. So glad you blog got restored. This recently happened to another blogger I read and it's super scary.
    I didn't shop the Kate Spade sample sale this time, last month when they had another sample sale I ordered the Flicker Melinda in lapis blue. The shipping was super fast so I am sure your pullover will get to you in no time. I remember loving it this particular piece when I saw in on Blair from Atlantic Pacific. It's fabulous.

  8. I saw Atlantic Pacific wearing this KS pullover, too and I just drooled over it. It's gorgeous! I can't wait to see it on you!

    I looked several times at the sample sale but cannot allow myself to buy anything. I'd love to pick up a bag but I really want to save in the off chance I make it to the Mulberry Outlet while I'm in the UK.

    I woke up in a panic this morning and then I realized it's on account of buying that faux-fur top! What if I didn't get the right size? I've also never bought KS and to go for it on final sale on a statement piece... Gigi it's either going to work out perfectly for us or not!

  27. Gigi my KS order arrived about an hour ago and I'm on The Love Boat with my new faux-fur pullover. It's amazing! The satin lining makes it very easy to pull on and off and gives it that "luxury" feel. Just as I hoped it looks great with a slim skirt. Love the pockets in the front and the bow at the back. I ordered the xs and the fit is perfect.
    Okay did you get yours? Do you love it?
