J Crew - poplin Wednesday skirt

J Crew's poplin Wednesday skirt (24504) comes in 3 colors and runs 0-12. It has on seam pockets.

Burnt sienna

Warm slate

Almond - Size 4 - Well, at least the length isn't too short. Then again, I'm 5'2". I don't dig the shirring. Adds too much voluminosity (made-up) and extra weight. I'm wearing the everyday cardigan, which I reviewed in this post.

Size 6 - So I tried a 6, thinking it would hang better. You know, like when you buy 2 sets of double panels for your windows? Going up in a size did nothing.

* F21 fab flapper skirt Hey...F21's swan butt skirt.
* F21 Tina Dirndl - Uh, if you can rock this length, this a great price to pay. The fabric might be thin, though I find their Fabulous Finds such as these aren't too shabby.
* Max Studio - The waistband is in 3 tiers, which allows the fit to be placed high on the hip, medium or lower. Now that sounds good.
* Nordstrom Halogen - Now this looks promising. The waistband isn't too wide, nice length and we get pockets. I realize the Wednesday skirt is meant to have a fuller, party feel, but this is an alt if that style isn't a match.
* UO pins & needles eyelet skirt - Very cute and marked down. Pockets on this, too. While we're at UO, if you didn't get the ruffle tier skirt from J Crew, Target or Old Navy, check out this cute one.

How do you feel about the Wednesday skirt silhouette? For you or not? Chime in...

Gigi's Gear - fur vest

This outfit is from a couple months ago. I thought I would have put the fur vest away by now, but with the weather being so crazy I'm going to keep it out for awhile longer. If you already have a fur vest in your closet, I encourage you to keep it simple and just throw it on without thinking too hard. Think of it like a puffer.

J Crew - Laporte draped blouse

First up...

Malan Breton, a fashion designer and former contestant on Season 3 of Bravo TV's Project Runway is selling this dyed metal necklace. I'm not sure of the %, but at least in part, proceeds benefit his favorite charity Care+Share India.

La clé de mon Coeur (“the key to my heart”) can be purchased here for a limited time. This dyed metal necklace measures 2 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width and is on a chain of 18 inches. It's $25 + $5 shipping.

Thank you Lady & the Blog, for sharing the specifics.

J Crew's Laporte draped blouse (23471) comes in warm fig, black and pale lilac. It runs 0-14 and is in the spring sale section on J Crew.

Size 4 - I liked this a lot. The silk is substantial, almost to the point of feeling poly. Not to fear. It's silk and it feels good. I tried the 6 as well and it was a little bigger, but not too much. If you have hips, the top could hit in a funny place and you might not be able to pull it down in your regular size. However, I found it to be best with folding the band under one turn and letting the drape and top fall into place as its cut. What I'm trying to say is you may not really need to concern yourself with whether it covers your hips or not because it's unlikely that you'd try to wear it straight down. It's really meant to almost be a ...dare I say it...dreaded bubble hem. None of this may make sense until you try it for yourself.

My vote is to go for your regular J Crew cami size, but if you're on the fence, take your larger size. Here is a portion of the size chart to help make your final decision.

Check out the Laporte on Amy Kelinda and on Patina and on Ingredients for Style.

Old Navy - 30% (ONBIG30) promo

The retailers have promo fever First up...

Ann Taylor
As of Wednesday, many items were marked down to final sale at prices of $9.88, $19.88 and $29.88. Cute stuff and definitely worth a stop if you can make it. I found this necklace for $9.88 in a bin at the register. The ribbon woven thru is grey, not lilac as it looks in the photo. Very nice necklace, even though it's a tad on the heavy side.

Remember today is the last day to use EXTRA20 for 20% off and free shipping if your subtotal is $150 or more after the 20% is applied. Check out the comprehensive list of links to irl pics of items in the Spring Sale section on J Crew. My personal picks for this promo are in this post. Sorry to tease, but here is Dina G from My Superfluities looking fantastic in the silk-linen city pants that are no longer available. I love how the Dauphine looks on her, too. I received the Laporte draped blouse and love it in the size 4. Looks like these are selling out now.

Take 50% off clearance, in-store only.

Old Navy
Thru Sunday, 5/2, take 30% off the entire store The flyer says it's in-store only, but you can use ONBIG30 online.

CLARIFICATION -- It looks like the 30% online promo is "on select styles" and the in-store promo is 30% off the entire store.

I don't see this scarf online. There is a blue one I didn't try, but it's nice. Pink was my favorite! It would look cute with these thongs. You might also look for this butterfly scarf or this geo scarf in-person.

Mock Two-Piece Dress - Size M - It was a little big, but it beats being tight. Pockets! It comes in other colors. According to what I read on Facebook, this dress may be pulled from the floor and not included in the promo.

Size M (#6775556) - Also not online. I saw this one, lone dress hanging on a dress. It was tagged with a store generated tag, so it may have been a return. It's cute. I see why it sold out quickly. It's thin, FYI. But cute. Nice shirt dress.

Smocked V-Neck Top (the link is to petite) - Size L - This was pretty popular as there were only 2 size L on the rack. It's a perfect warm weather top. It also comes in a here in a banded hem style.

That's all I have for you from ON. If there was a wave of cute stuff like we've seen in the recent past, they've sold out of a lot of it since I've been in. They have a lot of basics right now. That's not a bad thing if that's what you need. I think you can get higher quality basics at sale prices from other retailers at the moment. 30% off is great, so if ON is on your shopping path, it might be worth a visit.

New York & Co.
Take 50% off the entire line, in-store & online. No coupon necessary. Ends on 5/2. Check this post for irl pics.

New York & Co - 50% off - irl pics

New York & Co is having an excellent promo, as I shared in this post. Take 50% off the entire store through this Sunday, 5/2. Irl pics!

Caftan knit dress - Size XS - Do I like this? Oddly so, but not. I passed, but it felt very comfortable on so I definitely thought about it for awhile. You could really scare somebody if you open your arms wide. You know, the bat wings and all. And you might actually be able to fly in it, but they weren't heavy.

Size S - This fit better. The band underneath the chest felt too tight in the XS.

Streetwear Ruched Tee - Beaded Trim  - Love the chevron beading on the sleeve. It's really cute-person. I believe this is a M.

The Thompson Street Caftan - Fine Stripe - Size M - A S would have been better. This very pretty. Would look great w/white jeans.

Chelsea Rosette Cardigan - Size M - This is a cotton blend, which is an upgrade. NY & Co relies heavily on acrylics, so it's lovely to see some cotton up in here.

Sequin Tank - Size M

The Mercer Street Sleeveless Dress - Size S - The fit was good everywhere but under the arms. This is one of those dresses that's pullover and I tend to get stuck in. Too much hassle to see if the XS would fit better under the arms. Also, I don't like a tight tunic. Defeats the purpose of comfort, so S would be my personal choice.

Just sharing some nubbies. I think a higher quality linen doesn't show these quickly or doesn't show them at all.

Studded Cargo Shorts - Size 4 - Too small. Would definitely need a 6. Excellent, excellent price. 55% linen, 45% cotton. You should definitely consider NY& Co shorts. I think they might be pretty cool.

Bodyshaper Tiered Floral Cami - Size M - Sold out online. Look for it in-person. I think it's about $15 after the 50%.

Romper! - Size M - I don't see this one online either. I think it was also about $15 after the 50%. It comes in black (pictured) or gray. The gray looked like sweats, casual. The black is still casual since it's cotton, but I liked it better.

Don't recall seeing in-person, but lookin' cute online...
* Knit Roll Sleeve shirt - Nice colors.
* NY&C Red Label Cascade Ruffle
* NY&C Red Label Ruffle Silk Dress
* Sleeveless Ruffle Top
* Streetwear Tie Dye Pocket Tee - I like the blue one.
* The Bryant Park Tee Dress - The side ties allow you to adjust the length.
* The Mercer Street Sleeveless Dress - denim
* Tiered Cami - Poly, but it's machine washable.

Who else is shopping this sale besides Lawgirl and Lisa? Chime in...
