Heather elm - Size 4 - Q. Whatcha gonna do w/all that junk, all that junk, all that junk? A. Put it in the larger of your two J Crew dress sizes. A size 6 would fall in a nicer way over my frame. I wouldn't rule this dress out for me, pero no lo estoy sintiendo either. Plz correct my Spanish if it's not accurate. I'm trying to say I'm not feeling it. ;-)
We always love the pockets.
ETA: Old Navy's tie-waist dress has the same idea, but is a more modern cut. No fussy drop waist either. Comes in 4 colors patterns. This is black gingham.
The Sundrine also comes in gingham. Check it out on Dina G. Check out the solid Sundrine on Audreybella.
What say you? Does a drop waist dress bring back memories from a decade gone by? Too Little House on the Prairie for you? I love LHOTP and own the collector's edition. I don't dress like it, though.
Chime in...

Hmm, I'm not feeling it either, drop waisted dresses are so difficult to wear, I look so awful in them, thankfully we're not 1930's flappers!
ReplyDeletelmao Gigi, I too loved LHOTP but do not want to rock the look.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Tabbers it's the Drop Waist!
Thanks for trying it on though, I really appreciate it, I keep going back to look at it.
You've saved me PTTO (paying to try on, hehehe!)
Not a fan of this dress. Too much junk in my trunk to pull it off, anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a style that reminds me very much of childhood and little girls, pre adolescent girls. I don't think it flatters a woman's figure at all.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a really tough look to pull off, I agree. Thanks for trying it on for us though!
ReplyDeleteIt's "no estoy sintiƩndolo"
ReplyDeleteI have this in the light blue gingham color, size 6, and I like it on my frame, but it looks more like a tunic on me, so I wear it with leggings or really thick tights. :) I HAVE to wear the placket well undone, though, or else I end up looking VERY sister wife (if a sister wife were to wear a short tunic, lol). So I just throw on a cami, open up the placket, pile on some necklaces, and I am ready for the preschool run.
ReplyDeleteI did notice the light blue gingham sold out. The others, though, all still there. Hmmm...
Thanks for showing us this flannel one. Nice to see how it is different from the plaid versions.
It looks somewhat like a school uniform from the turn of the century! As a matter of fact, daughter's American Girl, Samantha, has the same dress!
ReplyDeleteIt does not do much for your figure!
Oh, Gigi, how you made me giggle. The dress is what I call a "concept" dress. Looks good on only a few people but not for most others. I think it'd be OK if you wore a sweater coat or coat (with some interest, like those at Anthro) on top, with tights and tall boots.
ReplyDeleteNO!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it would work on me with some thick tights, like Dina suggested.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!
Not feeling this dress either. Thanks for the review, I really thought it looked super cute on the website, but I am not too impressed IRL.
ReplyDeleteMs. Gigi, you are hilarious! The dress on the other hand, is just dowdy. It looks like Nellie Olsen ducked underneath Laura's desk and cut away the bottom half of Laura's dress as a cruel practical joke.
ReplyDeleteI'm drawn to the plaid version of this dress despite not liking mandarin collars AND drop waists not looking good on my frame. LOL to Dina's sister wives comment!! If it goes on mage sale, I may have to channel my inner Laura Ingles anyways...
ReplyDeleteI second the "sister wives" LOL! The drop waist reminds me of home ec projects made in jr high in the 80s from "Brooke Shields for McCall's" sewing patterns!
ReplyDeleteMaybe with leggings for someone else but not at all for me!
