Gap's boyfriend oxford shirt (620918) retails for $49.50. You can choose from regular, petite or tall sizes. Color choices are white and blue.

ETA: Jordyn reviewed it, too.

Here is the GAP boyfriend oxford (XSP) vs J Crew's perfect shirt reviewed here.

Me loveth the Old Navy weekend jeans (pic on left). I think this is the weathered wash. I just ordered blue jet the other day.

Right now I am keeping both tops. The GAP color is more casual and so is the fit. It feels very, very comfortable. The PS was too big. I like the PXS. I love the GAP top, esp considering I got it for 30% off during F&F.

The J Crew blue is twice the price,
but the sateen finish and the perfect fit cut give it a different look than the Gap option. I am still a little on the fence about the J Crew top. I haven't worn it yet and usually that means I'm not going to. I think I expect a very casual feel when choosing a chambray-type shirt. The J Crew version may be a bit more polished than the look I want. However, it's such a nice option to have. I think if it were like $40...maybe even $69.50, I might be all over it, but I can't decide. I think it could look so slick underneath a navy v-neck sweater. And because it's more fitted, it will create better lines under a sweater or cardi than the GAP option.

Ugh. Being a Libra rising is not good for decision making.

What do you have to say today? Chime in...

p.s. I'm offering 10% off the tall leather Thompson tote seen in this pic and on my sale blog. Offer ends Tuesday nite (9/1).

  1. I too find the Old Navy weekend jeans fabulouso! Funny post Ms. Libra Rising!!! I like the Gap better than the J. Crew. I have sooo many J. Crew "shirts" that I never wear. "Shirts" are like my "last option" in choosing an outfit.

  2. Looks like we've go unanimity on the weekend jeans. I got a pair when ON was running their $19 special. Compared to J. Crew's vintage slims (which I also own), the ON fit truer to size, and there are options that aren't riven with holes. The added benefit: 100% cotton. Hooray for an all cotton jean.

  3. Gigi,

as a ps to our lovely porch sitting Granny and you're follow up comment thanks(then I'll let i'll it rest, I promise), I think she reminds us that ladies of her era dressed well even at home eg porch sitting, whereas we tend to slop around at home in our sweats (even if they are expensive JC ones :), and even run to the store in them...Maybe another lesson from her....Maybe we can start a Daily Porch Outfit Blog - with Jule's neighbor of course :)

  4. I am love love loving the Old Navy weekend jeans. While I prefer J.Crew jeans in every other style, these distressed jeans take the cake. Mine are actually way more hole-y that yours are, but I love them that way!

  5. I also LOVE the ON weekend jeans!! And for $19 (on promo), you cant go wrong!!

I have 3 prs-- 2 of the lt blue and one of the darker (not sure which wash)-- I first bought the lt color in regular length, but they were on the short side unrolled, so I bought long-- Im 5'7" and don't usually buy long length jeans (except in M+O), so HTH someone!

PS- I like the gap shirt better : )

  6. You look cute! I am not the biggest fan of blue button-downs but that is because they don't look good on me...you however, darling!

I also appreciate the yellow belt...it goes so well with the outfit!

  10. Glaydies....thanks for visiting!

*luvallthingsjcrew & kikki_cee - This turned into a love post for the ON weekend jeans. It's so fun to know other love them as much as I do.

*Sydneygirl - A daily porch outfit blog sounds so cute!

*M.A. - I saw the more hole-y ones you're talking about. All 3 washes they offer are nice.

*kendra - I think the J Crew shirt makes me look slimmer, but the GAP shirt has more of the feel I want. Thanks for adding your opinion. :-)

*dina - The blue button down can easily look sloppy. However, I've been holding onto a very chic Polyvore by FFM. She styles everything so great.

*Roxy - I made my first couple of Anthro purchases. I can't say I've ever purchased any clothing from them. Will be posting soon! One is the ruffles jacket, on backorder so irl pics won't be for some time. I can wait. It's tdf.

*Patina - That's a J Crew belt. I highly recommend them in the fun colors, esp.

*Kris - Thanks! And thanks for visiting :-)

  12. I entered the Anthro contest a little while back and can't wait 'til the Sept. drawing...ohh, I love Anthro. Basically I switched from drinking the crewlade to being an anthroholic (thanks Shannon and Kim).

Ohh, the "Wrapped In Ruffles Jacket" was a total downer for me IRL, both in the purple and the black. The material was more sweater-wool than jacket-wool, and the ruffles jutted out at the belly, making me look pregnant. So bummed. Also, I'd say size down if you're interested since it's really stretchy material. I ended up returning both, but hope it works out better for you (if that is indeed what you're talking about)! I ended up scoring the Inverness Trench instead (after Shannon reviewed it), which I absolutely love now. Can't wait for fall...
