J Crew - ochre ikat pencil skirt

J Crew's ochre ikat pencil skirt (16062) retails for $88. It runs 0-12 and there is 1 print, warm maize. Unlined, machine wash. This is made of linen and that's what the fabric feels like.

I don't care how much crewlade you drink/inhale -- the (chest hair) Chiffon trellis tank doesn't go w/the skirt. It really offends me.

Size 2 - I can't decide if I like the print or if it looks like I spilled a plate of food on me and tried to rub it clean. The skirt felt good on, though. Other bloggers have mentioned the wrinkleage factor. That might be an issue as it's made of linen. The skirt is unlined.

LizPoms looks smashing here and here.

And you totally have to see what AppGal paired with it.

Likey? No likey?

Chime in...

  2. I like the blouse alot more than the skirt. It would be more versatile with a plain color skirt and pants or shorts.

  3. This skirt kind of "scared" me on the hanger and I didn't try it on, but you look great in it, and somehow it becomes more of a "neutral" when you wear it (if that makes any sense).

It looks great w a contrasting bright. I really like it now that I see it on you! And the print is much more wearable as a cute skirt than that crazy long dress!

  4. Love this on you - and I loved it on LizPoms & AppGal. Fantastic skirt for all of you!

  5. Personally, I don't care for this print at all...someone posted on another blog that is looks a little....well, how to say this... a female anatomy part....

Regardless, I did 't like it much before but after that comparison it is a definite pass!

Love your blog and the IRL pictures. You are wonderful to snap and post all these great pictures!

  6. sorry for the typo:
    didn't

And for further clarification: the female anatomy part lines up right where us gals's part is- to top it off!

  7. Honestly if I were going to get a print skirt right now, it would be Target's "Copelle" version. I like that print better and, of the course, the linen in this one is an issue. I really like how substantial the one in Target felt.

  9. I don't care for the skirt....it looks great on you and I loved your comment about the "chest hair cami" along with every one else's replies......toooooooo funny

  10. Chest hair cami? ROFL!

Okay, I would love this, except it seems just a little off. The color says fall/autumn (saffron, pumpkins, dried leaves), and the scale of the print is too big. Nice as a rug, not so much as a skirt. They need to shrinkify it some and use light yellows or blues instead of the mustard/saffron/curry. Then I'd dig it.

  11. I'm not loving that ensemble either but the skirt is fabulous. Love the color! It pops!

  12. I like it but I'm sure I would get tired of it once it wrinkled up.

  13. I liked this skirt until someone mentioned what it points to. :) I do think it looks nice on you and I love how AppGal paired it with turquoise!

  14. Glaydies...another skirt with the design pointing to things we don't want it pointing to. Good catch. I suppose you can draw attention elsewhere, but, eh...there are other skirts & shorts w/prints that are less suggestive. I'll see how it feels when it's marked down. ;-)

And, I fixed the link to the post on LizPoms' blog.

  15. This skirt looks MUCH better on you than the model. I admit I have a penchant for mustard and cherry red at the moment -- I would love to see this done with a white top (that is white in the skirt, right? Not cream, ecru, etc.) and red heels. But that's me :) I love your blog. It's very nice of you to put as much work as you do into providing such time-saving information. TTYL

  16. hmmm... I don't know. I like the color, but already have so many printed skirts, or items in various shades of yellow. The print is a little matronly... *ducks* But, if paired with the right shoes and top, it could work.

  17. Carole - I have worn red & yellow, but not red & mustard. Good combo. Your outfit idea sounds stylish. Thanks for visiting. :-)

tastymoog - This print reminds me of the Florentine pencil skirt from last year.
