J Crew navy 3/4 sleeve stretch shirt. belt from Macy's (08), J Crew gold flats (08)

I vote no on the tucked-in shirt look J Crew showcases at least once in every catalog.
silver Talbots patent leather thongs
This skirt zips up the back and does not have an elastic band in it.
Check it out on MsMer.
Cari tried it on as well.
Likey? No likey?
Chime in...

I could only imagine what that skirt's horizontal stripes would do to my hips. Big no from me. :) That said, the tiered ruffled skirt works well on me, so who knows?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
No likely. No likey a lot.
ReplyDeleteLove on you (great legs!)
ReplyDeleteNo on me.. much taller=even shorter and not great legs.
totally agree on that half tucked thing NOT a fan but I guess it goes with the wrinkly clothes and bedhead they feature.
"Dahling I just rolled out of bed and grabbed my clothes off the floor ...no my teeth aren't brushed either...no time!!! but don't I look fabulous!!"
Not my style
I like the skirt, but I can't think of what shirt would work with it! Tucking it in would be a pain in the butt. Play around with it and let us know what other shirts you tried!!
ReplyDeleteOk, Well I LOVEY - at least the skirt :) I purchased it a little while ago on a trip to J.Crew. I'm in love! It's so summer-y and cute. Maybe I'll wear it this week and I'll post about it. I think it looks great on you. Maybe pair it with a lighter color button down... (I'm a nerd) but I like it tucked in :::don't hate me!:::
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify: I like it tucked in all the way, not the half tucked/not tucked look :)
ReplyDeleteMargot tried it on at the Boston JCA event and she looked fab in it (of course, the size 0 was still big on her, so it sat a lot lower on her). I tried it on a few days later in a 4 and I liked it (and was shocked that the stripes didn't make me look bigger than I am).
ReplyDeleteI just couldn't find anything that would match with it, and so I left it behind. It's okay with Navy and Black, but I'm wondering how they'll pair it in the catalogue; maybe that will change my mind.
I like it on you, for sure, but like Dina, I don't want to see how those thick stripes would affect my hips :) It looks like a skirt that would really flatter those more petite ladies!
ReplyDeleteI just bought this last week! I LOVE it. I actually tucked it in with one of their tissue v-neck shirts (navy or even a tropical aqua. A SA wore it with a burnt orange color) and it looks great! I agree, it's the perfect summer skirt! I would pair it with one of their cute blouses/tanks but they never fit me. :(
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt! I hope everyone knows that they're offering 20% off sale items today :) Enter EXTRA20 at checkout. I purchased their Deco Dots Mini and I love the way it fits - sassy and classy!
ReplyDeleteLOL that you tried the half-tuck! :P
ReplyDeleteI like colors of this mini, but I already have the starburst mini in burnished olive/cream. I don't like the elastic waistband of the pop on style. That is a deal breaker for me. Looks good on you, though!
Like KatyO said, I bought that skirt last Sunday on our Private Shopping Event in Boston. I have to tell that coming back home, and trying it on again, I really fell in love :-) I wasn't too sure at the store, but the personal shopper styled for me some options, like wearing with a top and white shirt (jcrew rolled sleeves) belted with a dramatic color (I tried with the tripple strand patent black belt). Best of all, the minis were all 25%off at the store, and I had my red card, so it was a steal for me. It looks good on you Gigi, you have great legs.
ReplyDeletevery pretty...looks great on you
ReplyDeleteand i like it tucked in with the belt....wont look great on me and these hips...ugh!
That's a likey for me. Not sure I could pull of the horizontal stripes, but you look great. I definitely like the tucked-in look. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great on you, definitively a keeper! I like it better with the golden flat than with the flip-flops and ... with the shirt tucked in.
ReplyDeleteLove love love on you!! But half-tucked = bad bad bad.
ReplyDeleteand without even trying I know the skirt would be WAY too short for me. but again, love on you!
The skirt looks great on you, Gigi! I actually like it tucked in the best, too!
ReplyDeleteThat outfit looks fierce on you! The first one that is!
ReplyDeleteNot whatsoever likey. Looks like you were wrapped in a beach towel or a sunbrella! No no no.
ReplyDeleteLooks good on you. I tried it on, didn't work for me. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletewhoo whoo! I really like the skirt on you, and like it with the shirt tucked in. I'm sure you'll find tops to wear with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments. I think this one is a keeper, depending on what I'm able to use that's currently in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteHave and love!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I saw it in the store yesterday, but can't pull off a mini. It looks great on you!!
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting, Laura & Kate :-)
ReplyDeletegigi i think it looks great on you!!! i think i missed this post somehow but you totally rocked that skirt! now i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want one!!!
