Gigi visits J Crew Outlet

Ann Taylor & Ann Taylor Loft Friends & Family
AppGal has been so sweet to offer access to an ATL F&F pass to save 30% off your purchase starting Tue 4/28 - Sun 5/3. Looks like it's good at AT & ATL.

Thanks, AppGal!

Giveaway Alert:

TamStyles is giving away a F21 pink champagne cluster necklace. I still haven't seen it on the US website. A couple of Canadian readers/bloggers have been able to order it.

Tam, you're so sweet!

Secondly... few more pics from The Bellagio. I realize many of you may have been there, but I have to share the beauty anyway.

Ceiling of the lobby

This sculpture is magnificent. It is currently in the Botanical Garden area along w/gorgeous tulips & the watering cans pic (below).

Charming watering cans. They were so cute.

Two things inspired me to go to the Las Vegas Premium Outlets.

#1) 40% off at the BR outlet.

#2) J Crew! I haven't been to a Crewoulet, Crew-let since Dec. (should one of these be a word, or...awkward?)

Highlights:

Ivory cardi w/rosette detail - $69.50, cardis were 20% off, but I wasn't feeling this for $55.60. This is a size small, I believe.

Shorts - size 6. It's nice to have the pattern available for those who missed it on the b&m rollout last year. Sorry I deleted the full pic before I could post it. Hated them on me anyway.

It also came in grey, also a small.

Very pretty, but just didn't feel good enough at $55.60

A ruffle neck cardi (14427), $59.50 before 20%. I wasn't feeling this for $47.60. I really love this color, but I have the ON ruffle cardis and am really happy w/them. Size small on this.

Pretty button detail

This was with women's tees, but felt like a man's t-shirt. I think this is a small. It felt very heavy. A big contrast to the perfect fit, tissue & slub tees. Me nooooo likey. Hate the graphic, too.

Polynesian print dress (14195) - $88, The tag color is RHU (rhubarb). I really liked this, but I was of outlet mind & price. $88 seemed high. I would want to wear a body shaper underneath and the material felt too thin for that. I felt good in it, but was thinking too much yes/no/maybe so. So I left it there. I think with a discount, I might have purchased it. Size small.

White pique ruffle neck dress - sz XS, small was definitely too big. I purchased this. I can't find my receipt but I think it was about $60 with 40% off. It came in black, maybe papaya and a blue color.

Snagged a glass of champagne before heading up to my room. Snapped a quick pic off of the elevator. I was really happy w/my J Crew ruffle pique dress plus the orange coat and white dress from the BR outlet! Definitely worth a ride on The Deuce.

ATL cotton cardi (loveth!), F21 pink champagne cluster necklace, J Crew silky pleated shell

Oh -- I have to add that the SAs in the J Crew Outlet store were super sweet. I agree with comments that have started in this thread about quality. 85% of the made-for-outlet items don't feel the same as regular b&m. Bright, cheery & helpful employees make the merch seem a little bit better.

SparkleCupcake also visited a J'Crewlet.

What do you think about the most recent offerings at the outlet? Any tips for shopping at the J Crew outlets?

Chime in...

  1. JCrew had the ruffle pique dress last year in their regular line. I bought it in black and 2 in rhubarb (on sale) I liked them so much. I don't know how the outlet quality compares to the regular JCrew quality b/c I have never been to one and I do enough damage with regular JCrew!

I wore both dresses a lot when on vacation.

  2. I love the pique dress on you,and the aqua cardigan. When I visit the States I usually go to the outlets and it is hit and miss, I usually end up with some good deals.

  3. i agree, outlet prices at JCrew can be reeeeeally expensive! you just have to be there at the right time when they have stuff and there's actually a sale. thanks for posting your lovely vegas pictures. the watering cans look cool! the jcrew "man shirt" just kept me giggling. i love that pearl cluster necklace that you are wearing. so pretty! :)

  4. Cute dress Gigi, a score.

I've had mostly bad outlet experiences in the past year, the prices seem SO HIGH for lower-quality "outlet" versions of last year's retail items. A few great finds, but I seem to do better waiting for the real thing on sale and JCA exchange.

  5. i have a Crew-let about 30 minutes from me. Seriously, 30 minutes. last week after a track meet, everyone "needed" starbucks... i could see the sign from the drive thru... I couldn't be thatclose and not just swing in... i walked out with ANOTHER cardi, a cute dress, shorts and flip flops for my son...
they were unpackaging ? the new stuff from the truck... very cute pink flora something skirt... tip for the outlet, if you can, scope it out, try to be patient, it will be on the clearance rack before you can wear the pieces you purchase...

  6. Gigiofca, I LOVE the Polynesian print dress on you. Amazingly beautiful...

I understand why you left it behind...but if it ever goes on sale, GRAB it!

  7. I am just not a fan of made-for-outlet J.Crew. I have the poly dress in that same orange color (but from retail) and I absolutely love it. I belt mine and wear it with heels :)

  8. The polyn. dress was also regular line last summer in that same color and black and I got mine on sale for around $39.

  9. I have yet to buy anything from the outlets because I am always so disappointed with their offerings. I wouldn't mind buying accessories there, but I'd much rather buy on-sale REGULAR j.crew items than the outlet stuff. But the pique dress you tried on IS really cute!

  10. I used to LOVE strolling through the gardens of the Bellagio but I haven't been there in years. Cute outfits! Looks like you had such a great time! :)

  11. I actually went to a J.Crew outlet this weekend too. I got a cotton embossed strapless dress in navy polka dot and a few jewelry pieces. I agree that it seems over priced especially for the quality. Items just don't seem to have the nice material or shaping I am used to.

  12. Yeah the ON ruffle neck cardis are soo similar for so much less money, I would go with ON too

  13. I love that Polynesian dress on you! I too have found the outlet rpices high--with a few exceptions. I did great on jeans and (30% the outlet price) and some accessories. I also found a great blouse from a few seasons ago on the clearance rack that ended up being $12 after an additional 20% off. You never know...outlet shopping can be overwhelming!

  14. I have the polynesian dress too, in white/navy and I love it! (Here's a photo.). I do wear a nude slip under it, though, for the reasons you noted.

I think you look really great in it, so take Dina's advice and keep checking to see if it goes on sale! ;)

  15. We have one here and I think the prices are way to much! And most of the stuff is made for outlets which makes me feel like eating leftovers if that makes sense...you did good with drinky drinky!

  16. I love the clothes, but what totally stood out to me in this post was the glass work on the ceiling, that HAS to be the art of Dave Chihuly! I wish I had some glass pieces of his, *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  17. Cute ruffle pique dress. The pale aqua blue cardi was cute as well. Ooooh, champagne and shopping! Did you peek into any of the shops at the Bellagio, too? And the Dale Chihuly glasswork on the ceiling is always fun to look at although it's small compared to many of his other installations.

BTW - I also just got the ATL F&F this afternoon, too, w/ the same code. Looks like I will stocking up on those cardis you reviewed for us. I already have five, but I'm probably going to wind up with at least one of every color now. lol.

Did you see the new JC floral cardi (15361)? I may try it on in weathered stone if I find it @ the b&m. I saw the similar-themed gladiola cardigan on sale last weekend but the colors were too subdued compared to its matching cami.

  18. Thanks for your pics and reviews! I also stopped by a JCrew outlet here and I picked up a few cardis and tops. I agree, the prices are a bit high for the outlet. They didn't even have an additional percent off the "crew sale" items unlike most of the other outlet stores.

  19. Oh that's a coincidence-stayed at the Belaggio in February and visited premium outlets as well!

I was REALLY disappointed with the JCrew outlet store size and items they had. They had some "super sale" in the back of the store. I bought this necklace, love it:

I wanted to shop till I dropped and I walked out with a necklace (?) They had like 3-4 sweater styles and some tees but nothing caught my eye.

I hope you had fun Gigi!
