I saw quite a few options in the distressed/destroyed look. I saw skinny, flare & boyfriend in person. Online I found a bootcut:
True boot

AE's zip-up cardi is currently on sale for $24.95, down from $49.50. I saw 2 colors (this one & navy) on sale for $14.95.

I didn't bite as it didn't do much for me. Great price, though. And 100% cotton.

What do you think about AE? Own any great pieces from them?
Chime in...

I used to live in stuff from AE. In fact, I have a ton of older stuff from them that I'm trying to get rid of since they no longer fit. Those were my high school/college days though, and while there are a few pieces of theirs that I really like, I've moved away from them and more toward other stores that cater to an "older" crowd. It started to get old, as a teacher, wearing the same stuff as your students (I actually wore the same skirt as a student one day--it was awful).
ReplyDeleteI still have a soft spot in my heart for good ol' AE, and find myself wandering in from time to time just to see what's new.
I did, however, check out their online selection and found this adorable tank. Did you see this in the stores?
I've been loving American Eagle lately - I have the rewards and four times a year i get 40% off any one time purchase, so I stock up then. Since I'm still in highschool their clothes fit my lifestyle - i much prefer their summer clothes to their winter ones as well.
ReplyDeleteAE clothes are hit or miss for me. Their fit/cut/quality definitely seems to be geared towards skinnier teens & the young twenty-somethings in college. I find that their sizes seem smaller than other retailers for the slightly older crowd, like J.Crew and Banana. Also, being a petite, the AE chest area is often cut too small for me, when everything else is the right length. Kind of annoying. Still, they do offer items in natural cotton blends, which I verily appreciate. Also, most of my underwear comes from them since they are one of the few places I've found that offers mostly cotton or all cotton undies (other than buying a granny-pack).
ReplyDeleteThose ripped jeans are so 80's and 90's. Remember Axl Rose? LOL, this is too funny. I'm not a big pre-ripped-and-bleached fan, so will pass on this trend. It's really funny that the 80s have made a comeback in the fashion world. I don't know why, but it's fascinating to watch - kind of like a train wreck.
AppGal - that story is hilarious. Bet the student was way more embarassed than you, tho. ;)
ReplyDeleteAppGal - I think AE is really for h.s. & teenagers. Although they have such a wide assortment of jean sizes it's worth going. I also agree that it's good to check them out. They have cute details on their tops.
ReplyDeleteKatherineD - I signed up for the rewards, just in case. It was free. I also think their summer clothes are cuter than winter. Too much acrylic in the winter.
Diana Draw - I saw so many young, thin girls in the store. I figured I am out of that market, but I didn't feel totally uncomfortable there. Good tip on the undies. I prefer cotton as well. Thanks! I think the return of the 80s is wild. It seemed so cute at the time. It's so weird to see teenagers in it. I guess it was like me wearing bell bottoms & other 70s clothing in the 90s.
