Happy New Year!
The icon above is from dryicons.com. I'm pretty sure it's a free icon. If you want to use it commercially you have to pay, etc... At any rate, it gives a pretty good depiction of how I feel at times and how I was feeling particularly around the holidays. On one hand I was feeling blue and trying to shield myself from that. On the other hand, I felt like so many things were blooming in my life and going great. I admit that I was getting stuck in a rut of mindless shopping. I was not in control. At all. It was great to step away and begin to drill down to what was causing the compulsive and obsessive feelings I had at times. I'm still working on it, but I feel less obsessed and that's the most important thing.
At the current time I don't have plans to post daily or with any specific regularity. If I post, I post. If I don't, I don't. I definitely don't want to go into b&ms as much as before. As a result some of my posts may be old news, but I will still try on and photograph items when I can.
Hope your year has started off great & that you visit from time to time!

Good Morning GiGi!!! It's absolutely WONDERFUL to see you post again! I hope you are feeling renewed and much stronger after your hiatus. :) Have a FABULOUS day!
ReplyDeleteGigi, so wonderful to see you posting again! I missed your blog.;)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back and posting- YEY!!! :)
ReplyDeleteEven though I only started coming to your site in December, I read everything and fell in love! Please continue posting (of course on your own schedule)...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Gigi! I missed you!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you again, Gigi. All the best!
ReplyDeleteFFM -- I got to the crux of things quite quickly. It's been good. Thanks for your support!
ReplyDeleteSlastena -- I lurked a couple times on your blog. Keep up the fab updates. I love your outfits.
Alexis -- I missed your blog, but a break can be a good thing. Saved on the pocketbook, that's for sure. I see you're still doing a fantastic job. Very awesome.
dinagideon -- Welcome and please visit!
Kat -- Hello, hello. I missed everyone as well.
Cleo26 -- Good to see you and thanks for saying hi. :-)
Gigi, sooo glad you're back! I've missed your posts. Seriously, it's a new year and a fresh start. I mean, we're all probably similarly afflicted to some extent. ;) (I know I am)
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself!
Amethyst -- Hey there. Yeah...I imagine there are many in my boat or one like it. I'm trying to be honest about it without gushing my business all over the place. ;-) Good to see you, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you are back. I agree with Amethyst about us all being in a similiar boat. Maybe you could start the shopaholics healing blog where we can come and regain some control over ourselves! Give us some inspirational posts, help us get our heads on straight now that there are so many more enabling JCrew blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteI have decided to put myself on a $25.00 a week budget. If I don't spend the $25.00 I can accumulate it and make a nice $100.00 a month purchase. This way I will hopefully save more & only purchase items I really need to build my wardrobe. Now there will be times where this will go higher, for a special occasion, etc. $100.00 / 25.00 probably sounds cheap to most people but I really, truly don't need any more clothes. :)
Budgeting Aficionada - Hey there. Your budget idea sounds fantastic. I tried to go on a budget, but since I pay with cards, it's easy to go over. I supposed if I physically pulled out the money & shopped w/cash it would have a better chance of working. I definitely spend less when paying with cash. A shopaholics blog is a great idea. It is a true addiction. Unfortunately it is 'cuted' away, esp in concepts such as 'retail therapy.' But if *I* don't start one, you should. I would definitely visit!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are back!! I posted on the aficionada blog a few weeks ago(after not posting for a long time) and people were so mean to me, except FFM of course! So, I just continue to read now and don't post...but I had to say that I am glad you are back! I read your blog all the time, and love slastena and FFM's as well...they really help me get through my work day :)
ReplyDeleteOne more thing, Budgeting Aficionada's idea is fantastic! I am going to try it and see how it goes....
ReplyDeletejcrewmommy - You are totally welcome here with warmth & care. I don't know why people act up on JCA. I suppose that's inevitable happens when blogs get popular. The haters come out. Anywho -- thanks for visiting and see you around here. :-)
ReplyDeleteGigi: I pay with a cc too & that makes it all the better. I exported my records to Excel & took a long hard look at where I'm spending money. We have a house and I compare what I spend in clothes to what I could have spent on our house (deck, playset for kids, fire place, finished basement, etc.), or what I could have saved or invested and earned some reward for my $. Boy is it tough because the right clothes can make you feel so great.
ReplyDeleteOk, so I'm kicking off February on this budget. I did place a $300 order w/Jcrew but only for sizing purposes so I can snag what I need when it goes on sale.
Thanks for letting me blab here (hate to be a downer).
This goes for clothes, money, etc.: No matter how much you have it will never be enough. The eyes are never satisfied.
Gigi - good to see you posting again!
ReplyDeleteBudgeting Aficionada - You're not being a downer. Your post totally resonates with me. I have new wood flooring, tiling and a diy bathroom renovation hanging in my closet and folded in my drawers. Good luck with your budget! And I hear you on ordering for sizing purposes for when things go on sale. You're not the first ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 9:54 PM - THANKS!
