IRL - Love the yellow. IMO it looks good with the following coat colors: chocolate, ivory, gray, leopard (!). I also ordered it in ivory and hopefully that will arrive soon. I think I am going to end up keeping the yellow tote only, but we'll see. The ivory may sleigh me.

The interior is unlined. That may be a drawback for some. Also, it doesn't have a flat bottom. The tote is sewn so you can lay items at the bottom, but the seams that would create a true, flat bottom aren't there. Neither of these facts bother me. I am thrilled with my patent Candance tote and if this one serves me similarly (sans lining), I will be thrilled.

Nice interior pocket and an additional pouch for your ID, change, etc...

I remember looking for a smaller leather lunch tote years ago and the price was around $50, $60. So this is a great deal at $88 and I think it's worth the original retail price. Again, I'm not an expert in leather but my father used to make bags and this is on par w/the quality of leather he used. I expect this will wear well. I definitely need to put conditioning oil on it and protective spray to help it stay nice, but I see getting a long life out of it.
ETA: Great packaging job. I was very impressed when I received it. It felt like a Collection piece could be inside. Go J Crew!

I am excited to see this review, as I ordered this same tote but have not yet received it. :) Yellow is my favorite color so I was drawn to it right away.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to be able to fit a 15" laptop in it, but don't know if that's possible. What do you think?
Cute bag! I'm not a tote carrier, but do think the Thompson's are cute...REALLY love the metallic ones, too!
ReplyDeleteHey gigi-
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to hear about the Ivory--it doesn't look Ivory online-it looks white. Let us know when it shows up;) I was curious about the metallic guava--do you think that is the same shade as the crackle pumps? It kinda looks coppery like the pumps. Anyone?
FFM -- You don't carry totes?!?! I couldn't live without them. I wasn't a big fan of the metallic ones. I'm not sure why. I like shiny things.
ReplyDeletebug pin - The ivory is truly ivory. It doesn't look white in person. However, it is a lighter ivory than a deeper one and that's why it may look white. In person it immediately reads in ivory. I saw it a few times in the stores and now that color is sold out.
The pumps are metallic sherbert and the tote is metallic guava. However, they *do* look the same online. I haven't seen the pumps in person. I've seen the tote in person and it reads as pink. It may 'match' if you paired the two. Your tote would be far away enough from the shoes & it might work. Based on color names, I'd guess that the pumps are a little lighter pink than the tote. HTH
Hey GiGi! No, I actually carry really large handbags, though... like the Coach Large Ergo bags (even though many don't like Coach, I do)...they hold everything I need. My little guys have their own backpacks, so I don't have to personally carry anything for them in my bag, and the larger handbags hold my things easily. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing another wonderful review! I love that you combine real/ in-person images with the catalog ones! :)
ReplyDeleteMelanie -- I am not sure if a laptop will fit in it. I suppose it would technically fit as the bag is 16" - measuring from the outside top to bottom. Your computer may work if it's really lightweight, but you won't be able to get much else in the bag. Also -- without the extra stitching that a flat bottom requires, the bag may not be strong enough.
ReplyDeleteFFM - You have great taste in bags given your Polyvore sets.
ReplyDeleteAlexis - Thanks. And way to go to you for continuing to generate great topics!
