Real life shot. What you can't tell is how pretty it is in person. It doesn't come through in photography. I guess it's sort of the golden cypress color but more gold with a bright turquoise woven in very discreetly. I kept thinking mermaid. So I guess if a mermaid put on an upscale outfit, she might choose this as part of the ensem. ;-)

On me and I was too lazy to try on anything underneath. What is up w/J Crew and the boxy cuts on their jackets? The stance is nice, but the length looks whacked off in person. I suppose a higher cut jacket can give the illusion of longer legs, but it can also create gorilla arms. That's just going to be a distraction. The jacket wasn't scratchy or uncomfortable, but the fit was just too boxy for my taste. I think I prefer a fit that is more generous than the more fitten or shrunken look but not too long. And definitely not boxy. A petite cut/option would definitely work better for those who need it.

I'm getting tired of Jcrew's "boxy" fit on many of their jackets, too. What really drives me nuts is when they pin the backs of the jackets in the catalog photos so the it looks like a really good fit, then you buy it and realize it's NOT as pictured! Pretty jacket, BTW.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 10:48 - Exactly! They manipulate the garments for the shoot. Very misleading. I don't know why they can't come up with a different shape. They need to revisit fit. Old Navy did it and it was a success. The sizes and cuts make much more sense now than before.
ReplyDeleteyes they should redesign these jackets! if they wanted the look to fit like what the model is wearing, they can design it to fit more like that.- what's the point in manipulating an item to look better, if that's not what the shape really is?! people are going to send back/return!
ReplyDeleteGreat review of the jacket!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 6:35 - I hear ya!
ReplyDeleteAlexis - Thanks for saying hi and the nod on your fantastic blog. :-)
You look fat in your clothing, even though you say you're a small. How much do you weigh exactly, and is it tough stuffing yourself into tinier clothing not made for your size? I'm pretty turned off..maybe you can just take pictures of the clothes and not with you in them?
